Finding drivers for unknown devices

Does your motherboard have a chipset
or is there any other device on your
computer that doesn’t have a driver?
Use this tip to find out more about the
device or even find drivers that will
enable it to function correctly.

Open Control Panel and double
click on the ‘System’ applet. Go to the
‘Hardware’ tab and press the ‘Device
Manager’ button. Here you will ind
the device for which there is no driver
mentioned as ‘Unknown Device’ with a
question mark icon beside it. Right-click
on the device and click on the ‘Properties’
menu item in the context menu. In this
window go to the ‘Details‘ tab. In the
‘Property’ drop down menu choose the
‘Hardware ID’ option.

To make more
sense of this info you should select the
last entry in the ‘Value’ list and copy it to
the Clipboard. Open your favourite search
engine and paste this information in the
search box. Not only will you get the driver
links for this device, but you may also
get the results fetching more information
about your new device.
