Google text and tables, Working faster with key combinations

Google’s online Office program allows
you to work jointly on several text
documents. If you have been working
with Microsoft Office for quite some
time, you are used to accomplishing
several tasks with different key
combinations.

If you want to continue
doing this, follow on.

The online Office program by
Google cannot keep pace with Microsoft’s
program when it comes to complex
formulae and layouts, but it offers an
interesting application to draft several
documents simultaneously. This is very
easy since you can use many of the usual
key combinations as they are, though not
all.

The table gives an overview of key
combinations offered by Google Ofice as
compared to Microsoft Ofice separately
for text and tables.

Some of the combinations function
differently compared to the classical
Office —this can lead to operating errors.
For example: ‘[Ctrl]+[B]’ is for ‘Bold’ in
Word, whereas it is for ‘Justify’ in Google.
The ‘[Ctrl]+[E]’ command for filling in the
columns downwards in Excel is used for
underlining the text in a Google table.

It is also possible that if a key combination
has not been defined for Google Text
and Tables, a browser function which has
possibly been defined for that is executed.
At least the functions which are of utmost
importance such as print, save, copy,
paste and undo are similar throughout.
