What is the Registry Editor

What is the Registry Editor (‘ regedit ’ in the ‘run’ command) and how can I use it?

The Registry Editor is the tool provided by Microsoft in all versions of Windows. It is used to edit the registry and make changes to the core of the operating system. This contains information about each program’s coniguration, and your operating system’s critical settings. It is an extremely powerful tool for editing options and solving certain problems.
However, you need to know exactly where each option is located and what it does, or you risk permanent damage to your computer.

The executable ile is ‘ regedit.exe ’ and can be executed by typing ‘regedit’ in the ‘RUN’ section of the ‘Start Menu’. You can open Regedit and browse through it, but don’t make any changes unless you know exactly what you are doing. In any case, the program also allows you to back up the registry, so do use that option if you decide to experiment. Editing the registry will be at your own risk.
